Waterproof 12V to USB Smart Adaptor

• 1 x Quad Lock® Waterproof 12V to USB Smart Adaptor with 1.5M USB-A female port and 10cm SAE cable hard wired
• 1 x 1M SAE to ring terminal cable with an in-line fuse
• 1 x USB-A sealing boot for USB-A to USB-C cable supplied with Weatherproof Wireless Charging Head
• 5 x Zip ties

The Smart Adaptor is compatible with any 12V to 24V DC battery, including standard Lead Acid and AGM batteries commonly found on motorcycles, boats, and caravans. The ring terminals have an inner diameter of 6.5mm, which fits most standard battery bolts (typically 6mm).

If you have a lithium battery, AUTO mode may not work as expected. Lithium batteries tend to hold a higher resting voltage (between 13V and 14V), which means the adaptor may not detect when the engine is off and could remain powered on. If you have a lithium battery, we recommend using the ON/OFF switch manually rather than relying on AUTO mode.

The Smart Adaptor has three switching states: ON, OFF, and AUTO.

• ON supplies power continuously regardless of engine state. Use this if you want the adaptor always on, but be mindful of battery drain if the engine is off.
• OFF cuts power completely.
• AUTO monitors your battery voltage and turns the adaptor on and off automatically. It activates when voltage rises above 13.5V (engine running) and turns off when voltage drops below 12.5V (engine off). This prevents battery drain by ensuring the adaptor only runs when your bike is running.

AUTO mode works best with standard Lead Acid and AGM batteries. If you have a lithium battery, we recommend using ON/OFF manually instead.

This can be normal. AUTO mode turns off when battery voltage drops below 12.5V, but this does not happen instantly after the engine is switched off. It can take a few minutes for the voltage to settle, depending on your battery type and condition.

Leave your phone connected after turning off the engine and the adaptor should switch off on its own within 10 to 15 minutes. If it shuts off within that window, AUTO mode is working as intended.

If the adaptor remains on for longer than 15 minutes and you have a standard Lead Acid or AGM battery, there may be a fault. Please get in touch with our support team using the link at the bottom of this page.

If you have a lithium battery, this is expected behaviour. Lithium batteries hold a higher resting voltage and may not drop below 12.5V during normal use. In this case, we recommend switching the adaptor off manually using the ON/OFF switch.

The Smart Adaptor uses a 3A mini fuse. This is the correct rating to protect the adaptor and your connected devices. Replacement fuses are available at most electrical stores or online.

It is important to only replace it with a 3A mini fuse. Using a higher rating (such as 5A) risks damaging the adaptor or connected devices if a surge occurs, as the fuse will not blow when it should. Using a lower rating (such as 1A or 2A) may cause the fuse to blow during normal use even when there is no fault.
