\n What is a Vibration Dampener and do I need one on my motorcycle?\n

The Quad Lock Vibration Dampener has been created in response to the increased sensitivity of new smartphone camera's image stabilisation modules and the impact that some motorcycle engines have on these modules.\n

\nQuad Lock recommends the use of our Vibration Dampener for additional confidence when mounting all smartphone brands and models to any motorcycle.\n

\n How Does It Work?\n

The Vibration Dampener protects your smartphone's camera from high frequency vibrations. The silicone grommets used absorb the vibrations and are specifically tuned to dampen at higher frequency vibrations (vibration danger zone), which is why you may notice more movement in the lower frequencies.

\n Is the Vibration Dampener compatible with my current motorcycle mount setup?\n

\n The Vibration Dampener is compatible with all Quad Lock Motorcycle Mounts, \n including the Weatherproof and Waterproof Charging Heads.*\n

\n For best performance, the Dampener should be installed as close to the phone as possible. \n The image below shows the preferred order in which to install your Quad Lock components.\n

\n My phone seems have a slight wobble with the Vibration Dampener installed, is this normal?\n

The Vibration Dampener is not a camera stabiliser so some movement is expected and is completely normal.

\n

We have fine tuned and tested the design to ensure the product delivers the best results by being springy and absorptive to dampen vibrations but firm enough so your phone feels secure and easily removable using Quad Lock's twist and lock mechanism.

\n Does using the camera while riding a motorcycle increase the chance of damaging the camera modules? \n

The Vibration Dampener will be effective in reducing harmful vibrations, however, riding with your smartphone camera while recording can increase the risk of damage even with the dampener installed due to the camera modules continuing to focus during recording.

\n Do I need a Vibration Dampener for my bicycle?\n

\n

We have designed our Vibration Dampener to be used specifically with motorcycle mounts to reduce the levels of high frequency vibrations that can affect the image stabilisation on new smartphones.

\n

Currently this is only a known issue with some motorcycles, not bicycles.

\n

It does however share the same connecting feature as our Stem Cap Cycle Mounts and the Out Front Mounts and can be attached to these mounts if desired for your bicycle.\n\n\n

\n Can I use the Vibration Dampener with the MAG Wireless Charging Head?\n

\n

The Vibration Dampener is designed to reduce high-frequency vibrations from the engines of motorcycles. As the Wireless Charging Head and MAG Wireless Charging Head are designed for indoor use only, we wouldn't recommend attaching them to your motorcycle.

\n

If you're charging in your car, there's no need to combine with a dampener as the frequency of vibrations generated should not be putting your phone's camera at risk.

\n How do I fit the Vibration Dampener to my motorcycle mount\n

\n

The Vibration Dampener fits all Quad Lock Motorcycle Mounts, including the Weatherproof and Waterproof Charging Heads. It comes with an Allen (Hex) Key and an M5x12 Countersunk Screw (contained within the Vibration Dampener).

\n

For best performance, install the Dampener as close to the phone as possible.

  1. Undo the screw in the centre of your mount's head and lift the head off the mount.
    2. \n
  2. Put the Vibration Dampener on the mount and tighten its built-in screw with the Allen (Hex) Key.
    3. \n
  3. Put your head back on top of the Vibration Dampener and refit it with the head's original screw.

On a Brake/Clutch Mount with the 12V-24V Waterproof Wireless Charging Head, the order is the same: remove the charging head, fit the Vibration Dampener to the mount, then refit the charging head on top of the Dampener with its own M5 x 35mm CSK hex socket screw.
